Acoustic pressure
noun
Iis the local pressure deviation from the ambient (average or equilibrium) atmospheric pressure, caused by a sound wave.
Example: Two decibels may not seem like much, but acoustic pressure is a logarithmic scale.

Analog frequency
noun
An analog frequency is any continuous signal for which the time-varying feature of the signal is a representation of some other time-varying quantity.
Example: An analog frequency uses some property of the medium to convey the signal's information.

Continuous-Time Signals
noun
Is a function, s(t), that is defined for all time t contained in some interval on the real line.
Example: As for continuous-time signals, the energy or power of a discrete-time signal x(n) can be equivalently computed in time or in frequency.

Discrete-Time Signals
noun
A discrete signal or discrete-time signal is a time series consisting of a sequence of quantities. A discrete-time signal is not a function of a continuous argument; however, it may have been obtained by sampling from a continuous-time signal.
Example: For discrete-time signals, we obtain definitions for energy and power similar to those for continuous-time signals by replacing integrals by summations.

Exponential function
adjective
It is the one that assigns the power to x to each real value x. This function is expressed f (x) = a ^ x.
Example: P(t)=P0e^kt. The function P(t) grows exponentially and represents the quantity of the population at time t; k represents the constant of growth or decrease; if k>0 it is called the constant of growth, while if k <0 it is called the constant of decrease.

Fluctuations
noun
An irregular rising and falling in number or amount; a variation.
Example: FSK has been the most widely used form, being simple both to generate and to detect, and also being insensitive to amplitude fluctuations in the channel.

Geophysics

Branch of earth science dealing with the physical processes and phenomena occurring especially in the earth and in its vicinity.
Example: Dustin Schroeder, an assistant professor of geophysics at Stanford University who uses radar to study the planet, said the technology Amazon was proposing isn’t that different from signals emitted by cellphones and other wireless devices.

Independent variable

Is the variable the experimenter manipulates or changes, and is assumed to have a direct effect on the dependent variable.
Example: The independent variable meaning in an experiment is the variable that is to be manipulated and observed.

Power

In physics, power is the amount of energy transferred or converted per unit time.
Example: The nominal power for this installation would be 4.8 kWp (Peak) PV system orientation on the schools proposed canopy roof.

Rectangular pulse
adjective
A pulse in which the wave amplitude suddenly changes from zero to another value at which it remains constant for a short period of time, and then suddenly changes back to zero.
Example: The rectangular pulse is the most commonly used signal in present day electronics because it is the basic element of all digital signals.

Signal energy

Traditionally in signal processing, the energy of a signal is defined using the square of the signal magnitude, the envelope of squared signal magnitude or the integral of squared signal magnitude.
Example: If the signal energy over one period is larger than zero but finite, then the total energy is infinite and the signal power is finite.

It refers to any time varying voltage, current, or electromagnetic wave that carries information.
Example: Signals are represented mathematically as functions of one or more independent variables.

Of, relating to, shaped like, or varying according to a sine curve or sine wave.
Example: For a harmonic wave, where the amplitude of the electric vector varies in a sinusoidal manner, the two components have exactly the same frequency.

A system is a group of interacting or interrelated elements that act according to a set of rules to form a unified whole.
Example: Dahlin Controller an alternative method of discrete controller design which is not based on analog systems at all is the Dahlin algorithm.
